Speedily and Happily Reunited

The Episcopal Herald

The Battle of Antietam, on September 17, 1862, was the bloodiest single day in American history. In the Cornfield, at the Stone Bridge, and on Bloody Lane, Americans from North and South slaughtered one another in carnage never before or since witnessed. Episcopalians who used the same Prayer Book and read the same Bible wore blue and gray on that fateful day. Men who shared a common faith and belonged to a common Anglican heritage, disagreed so greatly about a theology of anthropology (in that time, slavery) that they took up arms against one another and killed one another in the tens of thousands.

Yet, this butchery did not divide them. One month to the day after the bloodbath that was the Battle of Antietam, the northern bishops in the Episcopal Church wrote a pastoral letter concerning the war. In moving, classical nineteenth century prose, the bishops conclude their letter by…

The Daily Tracker – Day 51 – Lots of travel

image

I have been doing a great deal of traveling for work. Last week I was able to earn 19 activity points. I have been averaging 2 points per week.

Good tracking while traveling had been an issue, until I installed the Weight Watchers app on my work phone.

Super Bowl Party without Panicking

Saw this information, I thought it would be great to share….

Party without Panic

Here comes the Super Bowl! Here’s how to enjoy yourself, on Plan, at the Big Game — or any get-together.
Party Without PanicWeekly Topic

A good plan can be half the battle when it comes to succeeding at weight loss. That goes double for parties, where so much is out of your control, especially food and drink that’s not so Plan-friendly. And talk about a party: It’s hard to imagine more of a PointsPlus®value blowout than the Super Bowl. Beer! (5 PointsPlus value a glass.) Nachos with cheese! (9PointsPlus value per serving.) Buffalo wings! (9 PointsPlus value for 3 little wings.) Potato skins with cheese, bacon, and sour cream (5 PointsPlus value each). More beer. But just think: If you can master the Super Bowl, you’re set to handle pretty much any party with a smile, even the next morning. Along with the strategies in your Weekly, try these tactics:

Down…. Plan ahead
Imagine success. See yourself at the party with a plateful of Plan-wise picks — fresh-cut vegetables and hummus (1 PointsPlus value per serving), popcorn (1 PointsPlus value per cup), plain shrimp and cocktail sauce (4 PointsPlus value a serving) — and maybe a splurge or two (Buffalo wings, anyone?).
Line up your eats. Ask the party thrower what’s on the menu, and then carefully consider what you’ll really want. Get ’em in your Tracker and it’ll be easier to stick to your budget.
Bring a Plan-friendly dish. Look no farther than our recipe section, including the creamy-tangy Horseradish-Bacon Dip shown here (and on the cover of the Weekly). Other favorites:Hearty Turkey Chili and Zucchini Fries.

Set…. Getting ready
Fuel up. Thinking you’ll skimp on breakfast and lunch so you can let loose at the party? Big mistake. You are much more likely to overdo it, because you’re hungry and because you might feel like you’ve “been good.”
Know the numbers. No, not the point spread for the game. Cut out the “Game Plan Cheat Sheet” in your Weekly and bring it with you for an at-a-glance list of PointsPlus values for popular party fare.

Hike! At the party
Remember your rehearsal. Stick to the foods that were on your imaginary plate. Remember how great you’ll feel tomorrow!
Focus on people. Try to socialize with each guest at the party. It makes steering clear of the food buffet a lot simpler.
Help clean up. You’ll get a little extra activity, and your host will appreciate it. (Plus, what could be less appetizing — and thus provide a helpful image to call up when needed — than half-empty beer bottles and food-smeared paper plates?)

How will you score a victory during the Super Bowl? Share your ideas in the Comments below. And read on for more ways to enjoy the party on Plan.

Another good activity day!! Lots of laundry and other errands. Not a challange winner, but a good effort.

Preparing for a week of work travel, I know that the activity will be there I just need to make sure that the food choices I make are appropriate and fit my plan.

Wow yesterday I rocked the activity, clean up at church and a bunch of errands. Not enough to win the daily challenge, but there is always tomorrow.

Today is house work in preparation for my being out of town for work.

So my plan for game day, water to drink fruit to snack on and homemade chicken soup for dinner. Thank went fine, the game not so good. I did get in some activity for the day so it was not a total waste.

IMG_1880.2015-01-13_013815I was in the fan zone, unfortunately the Ducks did not prevail it was a good season and now on to next seasons games..

The Daily Tracker – Day 45 – Ah Sunday

IMG_1878.2015-01-11_201618

Good activity day, the laundry helped me with the stair climbing. Tracked well and kept busy, that is the plan.

Today was a little more subdued, as I did the majority of the chores yesterday. I do need to go through some of the christmas light strands to see which ones I can save and the ones that will be use for “spare parts” in the future.

The Daily Tracker – Day 44 – Rainy Days

IMG_1877.2015-01-10_183944

I was going to rake leaves this morning, but instead I am doing some house work, as it is raining (oh wait this is Portland it rains all the time) not good for picking up leaves.

I did well on my activity yesterday, in spite of the pulled muscle in my right leg. Had some PT and today while it is stiff it does not hurt as much.
